Godly Friendship Pt. 1

Godly Friends Give Good Advice
Proverbs 12:26
The godly give good advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray. (NLT)

We constantly surround ourselves with "friends," but which friends should we keep?
This is a puzzler because God said in the bible, "...love your enemy and pray for those that persecute you."
However if you look in Proverbs, we see this verse, "He who walks with the wise will be wise, he who walks with the foolish and ungodly will become as such."  So my question is should we ONLY have "friends" who are both wise/Godly, or can we have both?  In 1 Corinthians 15:33 Paul wrote, "Bad company corrupts good character..."  I don't know about you, but i have a bunch of "friends" who ARE christians but, certainly don't act like it.  So do we avoid even the "foolish" christian friends?  Should we?  Or should we try and help them become more ensconced in christianity?  You might say, well they treat me like trash... or they refuse to listen, which goes hand in hand with plain old being ignored.  But as Victor Hugo (Author of Les Misérables) wrote, "Not being heard is no reason for silence..."  You could also say well my FFs (foolish friends) kinda tease me or even blatantly bash me, what then?  I don't really want to go near them or talk to them... i would say, "Great Question!"

Reliable Friends are Hard to Find
Proverbs 20:6
Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable? (NLT)

If this doesn't apply to you... you are one lucky person.  I for one don't know anyone who this doesn't apply to.  So, if you go by this verse, it says we can't really find reliable friends, that also means the friend doesn't put us down, or does things that puts a tong of tension in the friendship.  NOT AT ALL! there are those friends out there you just have to find them. And guess what... They are hard to find!  All friendships are based un trust.  Simple fact, actually all relationships are based on trust.  So what happens when trust is broken?  The friendship is broken right? Wrong!  A real friendship also has a little something called FORGIVENESS.
This is just as big as trust in a relationship.

Proverbs 17:17
"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity."
